Steve Lewis- Buffalo Soldier & African Americans in the Military

In 2021, the Family Heritage House Museum presented a virtual exhibit dedicated to local legend Steve Lewis, one of the Buffalo Soldiers. You can now see it in person, but below we offer the virtual ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Family Heritage House is open during the following weekday hours & by appointment. Hours may fluctuate due to staffing; please call ahead to verify our hours. (941) 752-5319.

Holiday Closing: The Museum will be closed June 29-July 2, 2026 in observance of the 4th of July.
